Obstetrics & Gynecology Emergency Room
The Women’s & Children's Hospital at Centennial Medical Center is home Nashville’s first and only emergency room specializing in obstetrical and gynecologic care.
The OB/GYN ER attends to the special needs and health concerns of women with greater ease of access and privacy than traditional emergency room settings. More importantly, each patient is seen by a specialist in obstetrical and gynecologic care, which is not always the case in a mainstream ER.
The OB/GYN ER is staffed 24 hours a day by OB/GYN hospitalists and is accessible through the main entrance of the Women’s & Children's Hospital, located at 2221 Murphy Ave.
Immediate assessment and intervention is provided for women experiencing acute obstetric and gynecologic conditions, including:
- Pain/bleeding in early pregnancy
- Pre-term labor
- Antenatal conditions
- Pelvic pain
- Abnormal vaginal bleeding
- Breast conditions
- Urological conditions, such as bladder infections or urinary tract infections
The staff provides the appropriate care to each patient and her family and provides information on follow-up care and signs and symptoms that may necessitate re-evaluation.
